Hain Daniels Group updates its chilled fleet
Leeds, UK: Food manufacturer Hain Daniels Group is adding 10 trucks and seven trailers to its chilled distribution fleet, supplied by Ryder on contract hire.
Ryder has been the sole supplier to Hain Daniels since 2005 and the new trucks will include Iveco 7.5-tonners and Daf 18t and 26t fridge trucks fitted with Carrier direct-drive chiller units.

The company already runs 22 trucks and 10 trailers provided by Ryder on contract hire.
Hain Daniels, whose brands include New Covent Garden Soup Co, Hartley’s, Robertson’s and SunPat, as well as a wide range of desserts, prepared fruit and juices, operates a national distribution centre in Peterborough. It uses rigid vehicles for city centre deliveries as well as to supermarket chains, hotels and foodservice outlets. It also uses tractor units and trailers sourced from Ryder for bulk deliveries from its eight UK manufacturing plants.
“The current renewal programme is part of our requirement to upgrade our fleet to the latest and most fuel-efficient specifications,” says James Cranfield, Hain Daniels’ head of group supply chain and logistics. “We put our requirements out to competitive tender, and did a deal with Ryder on the basis that it provided the best commercial proposition as well as unrivalled national service and support.”
Robin White, Ryder’s sales and marketing director, says: “Once own account operators, such as Hain Daniels, understand the capital expenditure and budgeting benefits that contract hire delivers to their bottom line they can remove the hassle from their transport operations and focus management time on their core business.”
