As of June 14 Jan de Rijk Logistics, through its fully owned subsidiary Har Vaessen, has contracted a dedicated train with TX Logistic between Venlo, The Netherlands and Milan, Italy. The train will operate on weekdays in both directions and will carry 64 45 foot containers per roundtrip. All kind of commodities are transported on these trains, varying from retail goods to industrial goods. Jan de Rijk Logistics also has become a specialist in this kind of intermodal transport for automotive products and cool produce, like vegetables and plants.
This operation will significantly expand the intermodal traffic of Jan de Rijk Logistics. More transport by train will be the future due to increased congestion on the road and stricter driving time regulations. This increased intermodal activity also fits very well in the company’s goals to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% in 2012.
